Our founder Professor Bob Dickson retired at the end of November 2007 having spent almost 27 years as the first Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the University of Leeds and Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon.
The Yorkshire Children's Spine Foundation has received funding via BT as part of the company's voluntary payroll giving scheme. Run as a key element of BT's community investment programme, 'Give As You Earn' enables BT people to donate to any UK charity of their choice straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted). BT pays for all the associated administration costs and also matches employee donations up to £1 million - which means that every charitable donation received is increased.
The University of Leeds is heading a £1.1 million project that will lead to groundbreaking new treatments for chronic back disorders, by developing advanced computer models of the spine.
